Get to Know Our Sponsors: Artemis Foods

Artemis Foods, Portland’s premiere local, organic and sustainable catering and events company, has been a generous and reliable Pedal Pursuit sponsor for years. The company focuses on simple but elegant menus that highlight the bounty of the Pacific Northwest. From weddings and social parties to corporate and non-profit events, Artemis serves the eclectic people and organizations that make Portland great.

Artemis was founded and is currently run by Grace Henricks. She has a classical French training and more than twenty-five years of professional cooking experience. When making business decisions, Grace emphasizes sustainability and reducing the environmental impact of ingredients, décor, and supplies.

Artemis

Since 2000, Artemis has been a leader in organic and sustainable catering in Portland. The company sources only non-GMO food from organic farms or local sources. They use only natural, humanely treated, hormone-free, locally grown and/or processed meats, and follow the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch list to select the most sustainably managed, wild seafood.

This sustainability ethic extends beyond food choices, as the company uses biodegradable paper supplies and a bio-diesel delivery van, and has multiple energy efficiency and renewable power initiatives. For theses major accomplishments, the City of Portland has honored Artemis with a Sustainability at Work award since 2005, and the company has achieved the City’s Gold Award status since 2012.

Artemis is donating delicious pasta dishes and salad for Pedal Pursuit participants and party attendees to enjoy after the race. NEDC is grateful for the support and honored to team up with a food company that places such a high emphasis on sustainability.
